Native American Totem Pole Paper Craft 2

Here's another Native American inspired craft using a paper towel roll. Use it to represent your family or favorite things.

Materials:
  • white paper
  • old magazines
  • paint
  • flour
  • water in a bowl
  • small Styrofoam ball or ping pong ball
  • scissors
  • 4 different colors construction paper
  • glue

Directions:
  1. Cut 4 different colors of construction paper into strips a few inches wide and wrap and glue onto the paper towel roll as shown.
  2. Think about what animal you want to represent your family. Prepare paper mache paste by mixing flour and water in a bowl.
  3. Tear white paper into strips, dip in the paste and cover your Styrofoam ball. Allow to dry.
  4. Paint and decorate your animal head. The example is a duck. Allow to dry.
  5. Cut out favorite pictures from old magazines and glue onto the paper towel roll. Or decorate each color strip to look like an animal.
  6. Glue your animal head on top of your totem pole.
