I just love this Christmas ornament firetruck craft. I like anything sparkly. This craft calls for glitter foam. Lacking that, you could substitute cardboard or thick felt and glue on the glitter. Allison McDonald at Family Education has so many great ideas. You could easily adapt this idea to other shapes. Personally, I'd like to make a colorful train. Follow the link for the full tutorial.
