Here's a carp streamer windsock craft you can make from paper and hang up outside. Great craft if you're learning about other cultures or Japan.
Materials:
- construction paper
- scissors
- tissue paper
- crepe streamers
- hole punch
- string
- glue
Directions:
- Beforehand, you need to cut a lot of fish scales. Cut shapes from various colored tissue paper like an oval with one flat side. Refer to the pictures on the website.
- Apply a layer of glue along the long side of a sheet of construction paper.
- Lay down a line of scales in rainbow colors.
- Apply another layer of glue above the first row of scales and lay down the second layer.
- Continue this process up the paper until you're more than halfway.
- Cut a long strip from black construction paper and glue it over the last layer of scales.
- Cut several lengths of crepe paper about 2 feet long.
- Tun your paper over. Apply glue to the bottom side and put a row of streamers.
- Trim of the scales from the sides of the paper. Roll up your paper into a tube. Glue or staple secure.
- Cut 2 big black eyes and glue on opposite sides of the tube.
- Punch 2 holes at the top of your tube and tie a string to hang up.
